21 Days one-way to Tibet: After your arrival in Bangkok you will fly to the northern Thai town of Chiang Rai where your bike will be waiting for you. After a night’s rest in a 5 star hotel we will cross the Mekong river, heading to the Chinese border through Laos. Your travel will then take you all the way to the city of Lhasa, Tibet.

The route takes us across the Peoples Democratic Republic of Laos, then northwards across  through China’s Yunnan Province, and on into Lhasa in Tibet. The roads traverse stunning mountain landscapes, remote Chinese villages and towns and mountain passes.

Day 1:

3 April – Bangkok – Chiang Kong. Arrival day clients arrive in BKK flight connecting flight to Chiang Rai and van transfer to Chiang Khong, check in and welcome dinner.

Day 2:

4 April. Chiang Khong to Luang Namtha – 189 kms. Border crossing day. Crossing borders to Laos today. Roads are beautiful mountain road to Luang Namtha an overnight stop in Luang Namtha. (Google Map)

Day 3:

5 April. Luang Namtha – Mengla – 48 kms. Early start from Luang Namtha, today we are crossing another border into China. A short ride to the border, exiting Lao will take about an hour and entering into China is about 2 hours. After we continue directly to Mengla, first stop at Department of Health and Department of Motor Vehicles for inpection & temporary licenses before checking into our hotel. (Google Map)

Day 4:

6 April. Mengla – Lancang – 329 kms. Today we heading to Lancang. Morning we will spend time at the Chinese land transport department for vehicle check and Chinese Temporary license before depart.. (Google Map)

Day 5:

7 April. Lancang – Lincang – 246 kms. After breakfast we depart to Lincang continue on G214. With beautiful mountain scenery road many twists and bends until our destination.. (Google Map)

Day 6:

8  April. Lincang – Dali. 305 kms. An early departure for Dali continue on G214 to Dali. Enjoy beautiful mountain scenery along the way to Dali. (Google Map)

Day 7:

9 April. Dali – Lijiang – 159 kms. Today we depart to Lijiang we stop and visit Chongsheng Three Pagodas Temple before exit the Dali City. We riding along Erhai Lake on our right before climb up the pass on S221 to Lijiang. (Google Map)

Day 8:

10 April. Lijiang – 0 kms. Join us on Lijiang city tour or relax at your own pace around ancient tour. For city tour around Lijiang we visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lijiang Impression show, Black Dragon Pool.

Day 9:

11 April. Lijiang – Shangri La – 273 kms. After rest day today we depart to Shangri-La. Continue on G214 beauty mountain pass to the Gate of Shangri-La riding along Jinsha River to Tiger Leaping Gorge on E Ring Road. Continue on one of the most stunning mountain passes on this program. On this section we stop and see the White Water Terrace/Pudacuo National Park. (Google Map)

Day 10:

12 April. Shangri La – Deqin – 183 kms. Rest day or do some city tour, a short walk to Songzanlin Monastery from our hotel. The monastery is largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan is one of the famous monasteries in the Kang region and ride a loop around Bitahai or Napa Lake and spend time strolling around Shangri-La old town. Day 11:

13 April. Deqin – Markam – 209 kms. Continue north on G214 to Feilai Temple breathless view Shangri-La. Along the way we stop The Great Bend of Jinsha River, 4292m Tibetan view point, Feilai View point over seeing the Meili Snow Mountain. (Google Map)

14 April. Markam – Ranwu Lake – 455 kms. Depart from Meili Snow Mountain to Markam on Route G214 crossing into Tibet territory. Along the way G318 Viewpoint. Nidingsi Temple. (Google Map)

15 April. Ranwu Lake – Nyingchi – 351 kms. Ranwu Lake we continue on G318 National Road to Lyingchi. We riding along the Parlung Zangbo River/Layue Qu River with magnificent view. (Google Map)

16 April. Nyingchi – Tsedang – 453 kms. Tsedang, Early departure on S306 along Yarlung Tsangpo River, a short stop for lunch in Nang County. After lunch continue on S306 to Tsedang.. (Google Map)

Day 16:

18 April. Shigatse – Ba Song Cun – 334 kms. Continue on G318 to Zhufeng Rd. to Rongbu Monastery. Along the way we ride through Qomolangma Biological Park with magnificent view. (Google Map)

19 April. Ba Song Cun – Shigatse – 249 kms. Trace back on G318 to Shigatse re ride the same route as two days before with different prospective. (Google Map)

20 April. Shigatse – Gongtang – 386 kms. Today we continue to Nam Tso Lake on G318 / S304 to Yangbajing Hot Spring then G109 / X105 to Nam Tso Lake. (Google Map)

21 April. Gongtang – Lhasa – 223 kms. Last riding day today we heading back to Lhasa on X105 to Damxung G109 / S202 to Gandanquguocun then to Lhasa. (Google Map)

22 April. Lhasa – 0 kms. Take a tour around Lhasa. We will visit Potala Palace / Jokhang monastery / Barkhor Street / Sera monastery. Or relax at your pace. .

23 April. Lhasa – 0 kms. Today is a free clients feel free to relax around Lhasa or rest at your room at your pace..

Day 22:

24 April. Lhasa – 0 kms. Departure day clients are free until your flight time. Shuttle bus will take you to the Airport.

The tour has a several costing variables, these include;

  • Choice of motorcycles: in ascending order of cost – Honda CBX500, R1100R, F700GS, F800GS, F1200 GS.
  • Bringing your own Motorcycle? If you have a bike in Asia, or want to ship yours in, we can make that work for you.
  • Pillion Passenger: riding with a companion is no problem.
  • Accommodation: base rate is based on sharing a room, but single occupancy is available at 1130€.

The base rate for one person, riding one of our Honda CBX500’s, sharing a twin room, and with no pillion rider is: €7,050
